In April 2025 Governor Braun froze all funding to Elevate, ordered an independent forensic auditor for IEDC and its affiliates, signed an executive order on affiliate transparency, and said anything with the appearance of impropriety had been reported to the Inspector General. The allegations were imprecise accounting, questionable compensation, and unspent funds not returned to the state.
